Foreclosures to Rise in 2008 and 2009 
 

  • More than 30,000 adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) will reset in 2008 in Maryland.
 
  • Between the 1st quarter of 2007 and the 4th quarter of 2009, it is estimated that 25,057 subprime mortgages in Maryland will go into foreclosure.
 

 

Foreclosure Facts– Subprime Loans and Race 

Data shows that minority homeowners are more likely to have subprime loans.  Subprime loans are 5 times more likely to go into default and foreclosure: 

  • 54% of African Americans have subprime loans
  • 47% of Hispanics have subprime loans
  • 18% of Whites have subprime loans
